Happy New Year everyone!
A few days ago I posted my most anticipated releases of 2016, but I recently realised just how many books I want to read this year that have already been published.
So rather than giving you another long list, I thought I would give you my top 3’s: top 3 series I want to start, top 3 series I want to finish, and top 3 standalones I want to read in 2016…
Series I want to start…
1. Slammed (Slammed series)
– Colleen Hoover
This is one that I have wanted to read for a long time, but always forget about when it comes to buying new books. I don’t read lots of contemporary series, but this one sounds like it will be a bit emotional, and has a really interesting romantic plot. And it also has slam poetry – which is pretty cool! I definitely need to finally pick this one up this year!
2. A Thousand Pieces of You (Firebird trilogy)
– Claudia Gray
This is one for when I need a sci-fi fix – which I think I do at the moment (so this one may be read very soon). All I know about this book is that it includes time travel? Or some kind of physics-related travel? Either way, it sounds cool. And if covers are to be judged – this one is absolutely beautiful!
3. Falling Kingdoms (The Falling Kingdoms series)
– Morgan Rhodes
This is a fantasy series I have been meaning to pick up for a long time. I think its currently four books in, and I remember wanting to read the first one when that came out. I love finding new epic fantasy series, and since the Throne of Glass series is the only other one I currently have on the go, I certainly have room for another!
Series I want to finish…
1. Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna/Lola/Isla companion trilogy)
– Stephanie Perkins
Stephanie Perkins’ books just have a way of making you happy. So when I need a happy read, I know exactly where I will be going! I read Anna in 2014, Lola in 2015, and so to follow trend, I will read Isla in 2016. I expect I will read this nearer the Summer though.
2. Winter (The Lunar Chronicles)
– Marissa Meyer
Why I have not yet bought this book and finished this series, I do not know. Perhaps the 800+ pages have been putting me off! The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favourite series though, and I will definitely make sure I finish it this year. Hopefully this month!
3. Of Dreams and Rust (Of Metal and Wishes duology)
– Sarah Fine
Although I had pretty mixed feelings about the first book (which you can read about in my review), overall I did really like it, and felt that a sequel has the potential to be a lot better! Of Metal and Wishes was a Phantom of the Opera retelling, so I am interested to see where the story will go now that story is over.
1. Amour Amour
– Krista and Becca Ritchie
This is one I haven’t heard a lot about at all, but it sounds like something I would love. Stories set in a circus, or surrounding that lifestyle are some of my favourites to read – given that I am a bit obsessed with circuses. And it has lots of 4 and 5 star reviews on goodreads. I want to read this one pretty soon too actually. I’m sensing a very busy January and February TBR!!
2. The Silver Linings Playbook
– Matthew Quick
I have had this book on my bookshelves for about 3 years now, and still have yet to read it. I liked the film (although I didn’t love it) and I think it would be a better story told in book form. I’d love to get some of the books that I’ve had on my shelves the longest read this year, so this is certainly one of them!
3. Belle Epoque
– Elizabeth Ross
This is another one I’ve heard barely anything about. All I know is that it is about a girl who gets hired by a family as someone so ugly they will make the family members look more beautiful. And of course, it’s set in turn of the century Paris, which is my favourite time period and city to read about!
So those are the books that have already been published that I’m planning on finally reading this year! Have you read any of these? Are any of them on your TBR too?
